Sam Cassell’s goal is to make the Boston Celtics a championship club with their current configuration. Cassell, an assistant coach with experience coaching for the Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers, and Philadelphia 76ers, joined the Celtics this past summer.

“I know how it feels to win a championship; I know what it takes to win a championship,” Cassell told Mass Live ahead of his debut as a Celtics assistant coach. “The whole makeup of it.
That’s what it’s all about. My voice will be, ‘Hey guys, this is a golden opportunity for us.’ It ain’t easy. I know how it feels to win a championship in Boston.
It will make any player, everybody in that organization who was a part of winning a championship — it’s life-changing.”
Cassell’s Emphasis on Mental and Physical Readiness
Every player on the Celtics roster should be ready both physically and psychologically, according to Cassell. He undoubtedly has some knowledge of what it takes to succeed.
When ‘Sam I Am’ joined the Celtics coaching staff, he knew he would teach the players to always be prepared, no matter what position they played on the team.

“I know how each player feels, so I can relate to each and every one of them,” Cassell stated. “The player who consistently makes a play; the player who makes an error.
I was maybe the eighth or ninth man in Boston when I won a title. I didn’t play every night, but I did play on some. But my message to them is that I was always part of the plan.
You must be involved in the strategy. To seize the moment, you have to be there in it.”
Cassell’s Commitment to Winning the Championship
The Celtics ended the current season as one of the greatest teams in the league thanks to Cassell’s extensive expertise and experience.
