Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals saw the Boston Celtics narrowly defeat the Indiana Pacers 133-128 in overtime in a match that typified the intensity of postseason competition. The best player for the Boston Celtics was Jayson Tatum, who scored an incredible 36 points, ten of which were vital in overtime.

But Jaylen Brown’s clutch 3-pointer, which demonstrated the tenacity and determination that characterise postseason basketball, was what compelled overtime.

It was evident from the opening tip that both teams were ready for war. The Pacers presented a serious threat to the top-seeded Celtics, paced by the prolific Tyrese Haliburton’s 25 points and 10 assists.

Boston’s defence persevered in the face of Kristaps Porzingis’ absence, recording 11 steals to turn the tide in their favour.
