75-Year-Old NHRA Champion John Force Walks Away from Spectacular Virginia Nationals Crash

At Virginia Motorsports Park, during the Virginia Nationals, NHRA great John Force had a serious incident. In the opening elimination round, Force defeated Terry Haddock, but as he crossed the finish line, his Funny Car had a spectacular engine explosion.

His automobile veered wildly after the explosion, going across the centerline and crashing into both guard walls before coming to a rest.

The 75-year-old, who boasts 16 championships, remained alert following the crash. The NHRA medical team quickly examined him on-site.

For precautionary measures and further evaluation, they transferred Force to a local medical facility. Despite the severity of the incident, Force’s responsiveness and the immediate medical attention provided were reassuring signs for his fans and the racing community.
